Think Ahead! 5 To-Do’s for July
#1 Organize Basement and Closet Storage
This month and next, consider focusing on clothes, past seasonal items, and outdated decor. This will help you regain space in preparation for other storage needs when colder weather arrives.
To regain organization, consider using bins with neat labels of contents inside.
#2 Finish the Basement or Add Shelving to Existing Spaces
The solution to limited square footage could be right under your feet! Transforming an unfinished basement into play area, guest space, or home office increases home value as well as provides more living space. Is a full finishing not in your budget? Consider adding shelving to the basement or other rooms (garage, attic, mudroom) to quickly add usable storage space.
#3 Buy Yard Supplies or Seasonal Items on Sale
Certain things tend to go on sale this time of year- Lawn Mowers, Patio Furniture, Paint, Yard Supplies, and more! It's smart to stock up on these items now and be prepped and ready for Fall or next Summer's needs.
#4 Visit Swap Shops or Consignment Stores
Some Trash & Recycling Centers offer Swap Shops, and Consignment Stores are also trying to clear out their inventory. Similar to Tip #3, it can be a good time to scoop up sales and good deals.
#5 Update House Lighting
As the days get shorter in the Fall, you'll be glad for extra lighting indoors (and outdoors!). Consider adding house or pathway lighting, updating lampposts, and replacing light bulbs indoors with energy-efficient LED options.
